Three amazing reasons to choose Macau as your next holiday destination

When thinking about potential holiday destinations, it’s unlikely that the small Asian territory of Macau is high on many people’s lists. However, there are actually lots of amazing things to do here, and there are plenty of reasons to consider it as a destination contender. From the wonderful cultural attractions that the island has to offer, to the opportunities for gambling that it can offer casino lovers, Macau is full of choice. Here are three of the top reasons to get Macau on your holiday list in the months and years to come.

Cultural attractions

If you’re interested in culture and history, then Macau is certainly a good place to visit. The historical sites here are worth a look: the Gaia Fortress in São Lázaro, for example, is a great example of a 17th-century-era fort. If you’re a fan of indoor cultural pursuits, locations such as the Museum of Macau on the side of the Fortaleza do Monte hill and art-focused spaces such as the Macau Museum of Art in Sé are definitely worth checking out.

Casinos and gambling

Macau has long been known as a prime casino spot, and it’s therefore no surprise to find that there are just under 40 casinos here. Whether you prefer card games such as poker or you want to try your chances on the roulette wheel, Macau has plenty to offer the gambler. It’s sometimes known as the Las Vegas of the East thanks to the casino gambling on offer, so it’s almost certain that you’ll find a gambling option that you and your party will love. If you prepare and practice using an internet casino, meanwhile, you can boost your chances of making some cash.

Food and drink

Macau also has a thriving culinary scene, and there are plenty of excellent bars and restaurants here for you to try. Those who fancy some high-end cuisine while they’re in Macau, for example, can head to the Zi Yat Heen in the Four Seasons Hotel on Estrada da Baía de N. Senhora da Esperança for a range of delicious meat and vegetarian-based dishes. If you’re on a budget, meanwhile, then there are plenty of affordable and delicious options such as the Hard Rock Cafe in The City of Dreams complex on Estrada do Istmo. If you’d like to enjoy a drink with a view, meanwhile, why not treat yourself to a trip to the SKY 21 bar in the AIA Tower on Avenida Comercial de Macau?

Macau, then, clearly has something to entertain everybody. Whether you visit Macau for top cultural attractions such as museums or you plan to hit the many casinos on offer here, it’s got something for everyone. It’s wise, though, to ensure that you set aside as much time as you possibly can to sample everything that Macau has to offer: after all, you don’t want to miss out on anything!
